How to Create Shutdown and Restart Button and Pin in Taskbar?

 In general Shutdown and Restart buttons of a laptop and computer are not in simple place. You must go to start and open power option and then they are found. Generally persons don't follow this long process and press physical shutdown button to force power off. This is harmful to the software. Suppose if the buttons would be in taskbar as shown in the screenshot given below, how it would be easy?

This article describe the process of creating Shutdown and Restart button and pin then to the taskbar. You have to follow the following steps:

1. Right click on any blank place of desktop. Select New and then Shortcut Option. This will make a shortcut on desktop and a dialog box will open asking for shortcut location. On the shortcut location box write shutdown /s /t 00 and click next button on lower part.

2. Second dialog box will open asking for shortcut name. You can write any name but to make it easy to understand write 'Shutdown' and click Finish button.

3. However Shutdown button is ready but it don't look like that one. We must set appropriate icon by the following process.

4. Right click on the recently created shortcut and select 'Properties' option. If you are using window 11, you need to open 'Show more options' to see it.

5. A dialog box is opened. Click on the 'Change Icon' button at the lower part.

6. Now you can see dialog box of 'Change Icon' where you can see a collection of many icons. You have to choose one appropriate icon for Shutdown and click OK button. If you have .ico image, you can choose it by clicking on 'Browse' button.

7. After selection of appropriate icon, click on OK/Apply/OK respectively. Your shutdown button is ready with good look.

8. You can create Restart button by following the same way. Right click on desktop and select 'New/Shortcut'. Write shutdown /r /t 00 in location and Restart in name. 

9. Change the icon by following the same process.

10. Now both buttons are ready on desktop. Cut them by clicking 'ctrl+x' and open any location you want to put them and paste them by clicking 'ctrl+v'. 

11. Now we have to pin these buttons on the taskbar. For this right click on the button and select 'pin to taskbar'. If you are using window 11, this option may not present on the first screen. You need to open second screen by clicking on 'Show more option'. Close the window after pinning both buttons. 

Your task is completed ! Now you can click just once to perform Shutdown or Restart.
